The Sister Jose Women's Center opened in its new space at 1050 S. Park Ave. in April. The 9,000 square feet facility can house up to 35 women a night. A commercial kitchen provides meals in a community space dining room.

Approximately 250 people took part in the annual May Day, or International Worker's Day protest march on Monday May 01, 2017. May Day in past years highlighted worker's rights globally, but marches now include immigrant's rights, black lives matter and LGBT rights.

U.S. and international students were in Tucson for the 2017 CAT Vehicle Challenge, sponsored by the National Science Foundation and MathWorks. Students wrote software to make the CAT vehicle "drive" itself.

Joe Pagac is painting a mural on the Epic Rides building at 534 N. Stone Ave. . Pagac asked for $18,000 through a Kickstarter campaign to fund the mural, he received over $21,000. He plans to have it completed by April 22, his wedding date. When completed, the mural will be the largest in Tucson.

Demolition of the I-10 eastbound bridge over Ina Road took place on Wednesday February 22, 2017. Ina Road at I-10 will be closed for two years to reconstruct the interchange to allow Ina Road traffic to pass over I-10 and the UPRR tracks.
