Amphitheater High School's gymnasium was under construction in August 1955. The Tucson Citizen reported it was Amphitheater's "first new gymnasium in 62 years." The construction cost in 1955 was $203,000. It had bleachers for 800 "and room to expand to a 1,350 seating capacity."
