Catalina Magnet High School will host its sixth annual College Financial Aid Night on Tuesday.
A Dallas woman accused of posing as an online student is facing charges after Pima Community College and five other schools were jointly scammed of at least $20,000 in student aid, federal officials said.
The UA spends less on these gadget giveaways than it used to
spend on cash scholarships to lure the same types of students. But
some students would plainly prefer the cash.
"We are offering students who have achieved success in the
classroom a chance to continue their education at a cost that could
be less than that of attending a public institution."
The University of Arizona is sponsoring National Merit
scholarships for 10 local high school graduates to attend the UA
next year, according to a list released by the National Merit
Scholarship Corp. More names will be announced in July.

plans to cope with budget gaps.
About 50 University of Arizona students went to a hearing Monday
to tell the Arizona Board of Regents what they think about the
rising cost of college.
"The tuition proposal presented here depends on the use of
efficiency and the university reserves to mitigate the need for
larger tuition increases."
The Arizona Board of Regents wants to know what you think about
a proposal to increase in-state base tuition and fees 22 percent
next year at the University of Arizona.
