Buffelgrass, the intensely flammable plant that has invaded and colonized the Sonoran Desert, is the suspected culprit in a lot of brush fires in the Tucson area and is now the subject of a study that seeks to demonstrate the severity of the problem.
Fans will no longer see real grass at Arizona Stadium, but UA says the Block A at midfield "will look nice the whole game" as part of the new synthetic turf.
With natural grass, players often rip up chunks of grass during a game. UA officials won't have to worry about that problem with artificial turf.
