There are 25 days between Black Friday and Christmas this year, compared with 31 days last year. That gives shoppers who waited until today or Black Friday to start shopping six fewer days to mark gifts off their lists.

The carnival will raise funds for two groups, including Katie's Heart, started by Katie Sutherland, left. Katie was with Autumn Ruhe of the Mildred & Dildred toy store.
The mercury is expected to inch into triple digits again next weekend, and local toy store Mildred & Dildred hopes to ignite some fundraising heat with kid-tailored fun to benefit two local nonprofits: Katie's Heart and Make Way for Books.
