Smashburger is part of a national chain, headquartered in Colorado. This is Tucson's first Smashburger. The second one should open late this summer and at least two more are planned.
Tucson's all about burgers. When it comes to food trends, one reigns supreme in our neck of the woods - the fast, casual burger joint.
This is the Arizona burger, a Smashburger made to appeal to our Southwestern tastes. It features habanero cheese, spicy guacamole, smoky chipotle in the mayo and the bun, jalapeños, onion and the lettuce and tomato standbys.
The new Smashburger is in the Crossroads Festival center, at Grant and Swan roads. It can seat about 80 inside and has nine tables on the patio for alfresco dining.
Hand-formed burgers and handcut fries are signatures at Smashburger.
