Over the past 100 years, Arizona's economic development has been
defined by the five Cs - cattle, citrus, climate, copper and
cotton. In the future, I believe there will be a sixth C - for
Rosemont Copper wants to dig an open-pit copper mine in the
sacred Santa Rita Mountains just south of Tucson - using the
Coronado National Forest as a giant trash bin for mining waste.

A recent article in the Arizona Daily Star ("Lower tax, few cuts
in county budget," April 28) said that Pima County's budget is
"down $6 million." The story said that county finances are more
stable than the city's because property tax valuations lag two
years behind market conditions. Howev…
