In this year leading up to Arizona's centennial, Feb. 14, 2012, we'll reprint a story or excerpts each day from the Arizona Daily Star or Tucson Citizen archives.

Nov. 23, 1912

L. M. Waer, who resides at North Seventh avenue, appeared before the mayor yesterday and asked that additional policemen be placed in his vicinity.

He said that Thursday night someone had entered his chicken coop and had stolen twelve select chickens from his henery. He also requested the mayor to have the colored church moved from that locality. This, however, was not a reflection or an insinuation that the colored brethren had anything to do with the disappearance of the chickens, but because of the noise made at their meetings.
