JaLea Bennett scored a team-high 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds Tuesday night, but the visiting Arizona Wildcats fell to Loyola Marymount 84-70.
Marlee Kyles added 18 points on 7 of 15 shooting and Lucia Alonso scored 13 points and hit 3 of 4 3-point attempts for the Wildcats, who suffered their first loss of the year.
The Wildcats led the Lions 21-7 through the first quarter and 35-27 at halftime. A 25-6 Loyola run in the third quarter gave the Lions all the breathing room they'd need. The Wildcats shot just 36.5 percent from the field and 34.6 percent from 3-point range. LMU outrebounded them 43-29.
Arizona (2-1) will now head north for the Warner Center Marriott Thanksgiving Basketball Classic. The Wildcats will play TCU at 4 p.m. Friday at the Matadome, Cal State Northridge's home arena.
