The Arizona Wildcats could get two key offensive veterans back for their Pac-12 South showdown at USC on Saturday.
Tailback Nick Wilson (ankle) and tight end Trevor Wood (concussion) are listed as probable for the Wildcats’ game against the Trojans in Los Angeles (7:45 p.m., ESPN).
Wilson and Wood sat out last week. Wilson, who has been plagued by injuries during his UA career, has missed two games this year, plus most of the Cal game on Oct. 21. He has 353 rushing yards and three touchdowns, averaging 5.1 yards per attempt.
Wood has only one catch for 6 yards but has been a valuable blocker for Arizona’s rushing attack, which is among the best in the nation. Wood also has served as the Wildcats’ short snapper at times.
Freshman free safety Scottie Young Jr. has been upgraded to questionable. Young has missed the past two-plus games because of a knee injury suffered in the first half against UCLA on Oct. 14. Redshirt freshman Jarrius Wallace has done an excellent job filling in for Young.
Freshman defensive tackle Kurtis Brown is out because of a concussion. Brown has been a regular part of the rotation at defensive tackle but played only sparingly last week.
No. 22 Arizona (6-2, 4-1 Pac-12) can leapfrog No. 17 USC (7-2, 5-1) in the South Division with an upset victory Saturday night. The winner will be in the driver's seat to play in the Pac-12 Championship Game on Dec. 1.
