After squandering a 9-5 lead, the Arizona Wildcats baseball team defeated host Stanford 10-9 with the help of Brandon Dixon's solo homer in the ninth inning Saturday.

The Wildcats (25-13, 9-8 Pac-12) evened the three-game series with the win. The series finale starts at 2 p.m. today at Sunken Diamond.

With the game tied at 9 in the ninth, Dixon delivered his fifth home run of the season - a shot to left field - to give the Wildcats their third lead of the ballgame.

Dixon went 2 for 5 with two runs and a pair of RBIs against Stanford (21-12, 8-6).

Despite some drama in the bottom of the ninth, the UA was able to hang on this time.

Closer Mat Troupe, who had entered in the seventh and allowed the game-tying run in the eighth, issued a pair of one-out walks. But he was then able to strike out Alex Blandino, who had homered in the third, before getting Zach Hoffpauir to ground out to third to end the game.
