Brandon Dixon hit a three-run homer and Konner Wade pitched a complete game Friday night as the Arizona Wildcats opened a three-game nonconference series with an 8-2 win over Alabama State at Hi Corbett Field.

The UA (26-14) opened up a 5-0 lead with three runs in the third inning.

Johnny Field, who went 3 for 4 with two triples and an RBI, singled with one out to start the rally. Trent Gilbert then reached on an Alabama State error.

Dixon followed with a homer, his sixth of the season, to left to make it 5-0.

Wade (5-4) limited Alabama State (27-20) to 11 hits and one earned run. He struck out five and did not allow a walk.

Alabama State cut the lead to 5-2 with a pair of runs in the fourth.

But Arizona had single runs in the fifth, seventh and eighth innings while Wade limited the Hornets to three singles over the final five innings.
