Arizona Wildcats baseball coach Andy Lopez underwent triple bypass heart surgery today at a local hospital and is being held in intensive care following the operation, the school said in a release.

"We are thrilled to hear that Andy's surgery went well," UA athletic director Greg Byrne said. "He is receiving great care from the medical team, and we wish him a complete and speedy recovery. Our thoughts and prayers will continue to go out to him and his family as he begins the recovery process."

Lopez's family is asking for no visitors at the hospital while Lopez recovers.

The coach, in his 13th year with Arizona, checked into a hospital on Friday. Doctors examined him and scheduled surgery for today.
