The Arizona Wildcats baseball team ended an eight-game losing streak with an 11-2 victory over Oregon State at Hi Corbett Field on Saturday.

UA starter Cody Hamlin (4-2) gave up 12 hits but allowed the Beavers (20-6, 5-3 Pac-12) to plate just two runners over 8º innings. The sophomore struck out a career-high eight and did not allow a walk.

The Wildcats (12-17, 2-6) pounded out 17 hits against seven Oregon State pitchers, with Kevin Newman, Trent Gilbert and Zach Gibbons getting three hits apiece.

Gilbert drove in three runs, including the first two runs of the game with a double in the first inning.

The Wildcats built the lead up to 6-0 with four runs in the third and added a single run in the seventh and four in the eighth to put the game out of reach.

The teams will play the rubber match today at Hi Corbett at noon.
