Scott Kingery and Zach Gibbons had three hits apiece to pace the Arizona Wildcats baseball team to a 10-2 victory over Air Force to complete a two-game sweep Wednesday afternoon at Hi Corbett Field.

The Wildcats (10-9) overcame a 1-0 deficit with two runs in the fourth and opened the game up with five runs in the fifth.

Kingery went 3 for 4 with two runs scored and Gibbons was 3 for 5 with two runs and an RBI.

Cody Moffett, the UA’s third pitcher of the day, earned his first win by limiting the Falcons (4-10) to one hit in 1º scoreless innings.

Maggi suspended

Arizona Wildcats outfielder/first baseman Joe Maggi was suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules.

Coach Andy Lopez announced the suspension after Wednesday’s win. Maggi hasn’t been with the team for the past four games.

“We met Tuesday and he understood the situation,” Lopez said. “I’m sure he’s not happy with it and I’m not happy with it. But sometimes you have to pay for your actions. We’ll revisit it early next week and go from there.”

The junior last appeared in a game on Friday against Mississippi State. He entered as a defensive replacement in right field and went 0 for 2 with an RBI and a run scored.

He last started a game on March 4 against Long Beach State and went 0 for 4.

The Phoenix Brophy Prep product was 6 for 31 this season with no extra-base hits. He opened this season as the starting center fielder but was quickly moved to right field. He eventually lost that spot to freshman Kenny Meimerstorf.
