Tonight’s scheduled Tucson Padres game against Salt Lake has been canceled after a monsoon hit Kino Stadium in the middle of the afternoon.

The ballpark’s dugouts are flooded, and the stadium was without power as of 4 p.m. The Bees' play-by-play man, Steve Klauke, posted this photo earlier today; check out the Star's Monsoon Blog for more on the storm.

The Padres will make up the game as part of a doubleheader Sunday; the first pitch for Game 1 is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday’s game will start at 7 p.m. as scheduled.

The Padres’ weekend series with Salt Lake is one of the biggest of their season. The club trails the Las Vegas by 2 1/2 games and Sacramento by 1 game in the Pacific Coast League’s Pacific South Division.
