Tucson Padres

Brad Nelson drove in five runs as the host Iowa Cubs defeated the Tucson Padres 7-3 on Sunday afternoon.

The teams split their only series of the season 2-2.

Tucson starter Wilfredo Boscan (1-2) lasted just four innings, giving up nine hits and seven runs.

Three of those runs came on fourth-inning homers. Nelson hit a two-run shot and Donnie Murphy followed with a solo blast.

The Padres (23-20) out-hit the Cubs 11-10, but left 11 men on base. The Cubs (16-24) stranded five.

Tucson's Daniel Robertson went 3 for 5 with a run and an RBI in the loss. He scored on Brandon Allen's first-inning single for a 1-0 lead and singled in a run to pull Tucson within 3-2 in the fifth inning.

The Padres continue their eight-game road trip in the Midwest with a four-game set against Omaha beginning today.
