Matt Garza outdueled Clayton Richard as the host Iowa Cubs snapped Tucson's five-game winning streak with a 1-0 victory Thursday night.

In a matchup of two major-league players rehabbing from injuries, Garza struck out six in tossing six scoreless innings. He allowed just two hits.

Richard also pitched well, striking out eight and allowing a run and six hits in six innings. But he allowed Donnie Murphy's sacrifice fly in the second inning for the game's only run.

The Padres managed only four hits in the game, with Brandon Allen and Rene Rivera each notching two. There was just nine total hits between the two teams, and none went for extra bases.
