Former major-league pitcher and position player Jason Lane was the winner Tuesday in his debut for the Tucson Padres, who beat Tacoma 8-4 in Tacoma, Wash.

Lane, a left-hander who signed a contract Tuesday, pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing five hits and three earned runs.

The Padres rallied for six runs with two outs in the sixth. Tucson began the day a half game behind Las Vegas in the Pacific South Division.

Jaff Decker lined a two-run double to right in the sixth to bring the Padres within two runs. After Decker scored on a wild pitch, Dean Anna hit a three-run double to put the Padres ahead 6-4. Decker added a solo home run in the eighth.
