Memphis starter Michael Wacha pitched six shutout innings to lead the host Redbirds to a 3-0 win over the Tucson Padres on Tuesday night.

Brock Peterson, who leads the Pacific Coast League in homers with 23, hit a solo shot to left field off Tucson starter Anthony Bass to break a 0-0 tie in the bottom of the sixth. Memphis added two runs in the eighth on Greg Garcia's RBI double and Travis Tartamella's RBI single.

Wacha scattered two hits and struck out seven to improve to 5-2.

The Padres threatened in the eighth when Jesus Merchan went from first to third on Jaff Decker's single to right, but Memphis reliever Sam Freeman retired Daniel Robertson to end the threat.
