Tacoma's Brian Sweeney scattered two hits over six innings to overpower the visiting Tucson Padres 4-1 on Monday.

Sweeney (3-0) struck out three and walked one to end Tucson's win streak at two.

The Padres' only score came in the eighth inning. Gregorio Petit, who doubled off reliever Brian Morgan, scored on a throwing error by Tacoma shortstop Nick Franklin after he fielded a grounder by Jeff Decker.
