Tucson reliever Brad Boxberger escaped a one-out, bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the ninth inning to nail down a 5-4 victory for the visiting Padres over the Fresno Grizzlies on Saturday night.
The Padres led for the entire game, going up 2-0 in the top of the first when Jaff Decker scored on Travis Buck's sacrifice fly and Daniel Robertson came in one batter later on a throwing error.
Tucson got two more in the fourth when Dean Anna doubled in Jonathan Galvez and later scored when Jason Hagerty grounded into a force-out.
Tucson got what proved to be the winning run in the seventh when Decker came in on Buck's second sacrifice fly of the game, putting the Padres up 5-3.
Fresno pulled within a run in the bottom of the eighth, and had the bases loaded with one out in the ninth. But Boxberger struck out Carter Jurica and got pinch hitter Juan Ciriaco to fly out.
