Tacoma pitcher James Paxton scattered four hits over six innings in a 4-2 victory over visiting Tucson on Monday night.

The Padres (54-49) fell into a first-place tie with Las Vegas.

Paxton (7-7) struck out seven. He gave up one run in the fifth when Jesus Merchan, who had singled, scored from first on Jaff Decker's double to center field.

In the eighth, the Padres struck again when Mike Wilson singled to left field to score Eddy Rodriguez, who doubled to start the inning.
