• Highlight: For the second night in a row, the Grizzlies (7-5) poured it on late with nine runs in the final three innings, including the game-winning score by center fielder Gary Brown. The Padres (3-8) made a late rally of their own in the eighth inning, scoring four runs to tie the game at 11 apiece, but couldn't get a run across the plate in the final frame. The loss Monday in front of 1,115 at Kino Stadium was Tucson's third in four days against Fresno.

• Big number: 4. The Padres scored four runs in the first inning, doubling their previous season high set Saturday. Before the Fresno series, Tucson had one first inning run during its opening seven games of the season.
