• Roy Oswalt has known for weeks that he cleared waivers. What the veteran right-hander isn't so sure of is if the Rangers have any plans to trade him and exactly what his role is now that he's no longer in the team's starting rotation. "I don't know the process. I don't even know how it works," Oswalt said Tuesday, when asked about clearing waivers. "But I guess when they come and tell you you have to be somewhere else, you've got to go."

• Rays right fielder Matt Joyce left Tuesday night's game at Texas with a left forearm strain. Joyce struck out against Yu Darvish in the top of the first inning. Joyce played the field in the bottom of the first but was then replaced by Sam Fuld. It was unclear how Joyce became injured.

• Blue Jays prospect Marcus Stroman, the No. 22 pick in this year's amateur draft, was suspended 50 games Tuesday for violating baseball's minor-league drug program.

• Infielder Sean Rodriguez won't be rejoining the Rays later this week as expected because he broke his right hand punching a locker at Triple-A Durham.

• Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista will have season-ending surgery to stabilize a tendon in his left wrist. Bautista said before Tuesday night's game against the Yankees that the recovery period is three to four months and he would be ready to play long before the start of spring training.
