Pima College dipped into its past to find a new men's basketball  coach.

Brian Peabody was named the school's new coach today, pending board approval. Peabody coached the team for the 2003-04 season, posting a 7-23 record; he quit after the college administration eliminated Pima's ability to recruit out-of-state players.

Peabody has coached at Ironwood Ridge High School since 2007.

During a 29-year coaching career, Peabody has worked at Salpointe Catholic (1993-2003), St. Gregory (1992-93) and Green Fields (1990-92). He spent the 2004-05 season as an assistant at Western Carolina University. His high school teams have won two state titles, and played in the championship game six times. He leaves Ironwood Ridge boasting 442 career wins at the high school level.

Peabody said in a news release that Pima "feels like home."

"I have a lot of unfinished business from the first time around," he said. "It's very exciting to be back."

Peabody replaces Gabriel Van Guse, who resigned last month.
