Grant Jerrett is only one of the parties that the Grant Jerrett Decision left with an uncertain future.

About an hour after Arizona announced the freshman forward would leave the Wildcats for professional basketball, Jerrett was lumped into the "potential second-round pick" category by ESPN draft analyst Chad Ford. Second-round picks are not guaranteed a contract nor a spot an NBA roster.

Then there's the case of UA forward Angelo Chol, whose playing time dropped as a sophomore last season. With Aaron Gordon coming in, those minutes may have continued to decrease, although Jerrett's decision to leave may change that.

There's also the question of whether somebody else might be arriving. Arizona still has two scholarships remaining for next season.

Here's one look at how the snowball could play out:

Jerrett finds a home somewhere

While Jerrett and the people around him are confident of his NBA draft stock, Jerrett's draft status appears iffy. Draft Express rated him the 76th-best prospect in college and the No. 25 freshman.

Draft Express president Jonathan Givony said it's too early to say if Jerrett would be a draft pick but indicated that the 6-foot-10-inch freshman has raised some NBA eyebrows.

"He shot 40 percent from three. That's interesting for a guy who's 6-10," Givony said. "But he has a lot of limitations in other areas that are going to hold him back from being able to contribute for an NBA team anytime soon. … Rebounding, defense, toughness and strength - his ability to play in the interior, which he's going to have to do."

In his analysis on Jerrett for ESPN.com, Ford wrote that Jerrett is intriguing because of his ability to stretch the floor.

"Jerrett was ranked as one of the top 10 high school players in the country last year by ESPN, but he struggled as a freshman playing a supporting role off the bench," Ford wrote. "With several high-profile recruits coming to Arizona next year, Jerrett decided to cut bait."

Jerrett will have the spring to work out privately for NBA teams and, if he doesn't make an NBA roster, can try to develop overseas or in the D-League.

Chol makes a move

Chol's playing time shrank from 12.2 to 8.5 minutes last season after the arrivals of Jerrett, Brandon Ashley and Kaleb Tarczewski. With Jerrett gone, but with Gordon coming in and Matt Korcheck coming off a redshirt year, Chol could be in a similar situation again next season.

But Chol has not yet made a decision on whether he may redshirt or transfer, according to his high school coach, Ollie Goulston.

"I know (redshirting) was one of the plans that was discussed," Goulston said. "I just don't know how it's going to play out. He's going through the process of what he wants to do. He's happy at Arizona, but he certainly wants to play more."

If Chol redshirts, he gives UA extra protection in case the Wildcats lose multiple players early to pro ball next spring. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

A transfer (or two) mixes in

Arizona already has seven near-certain contributors next season - plus potential rotation players in Chol, Korcheck and guards Gabe York and Elliott Pitts - giving UA 11 players to choose from. But coach Sean Miller still has two more scholarships to give.

With a loaded roster already, Arizona could look to add a standard transfer who would sit out the required redshirt season. Or the Wildcats could try to add another "rent-a-grad," an immediately eligible graduate transfer such as guard Mark Lyons, who came to UA from Xavier last spring.

Former Tulane forward Josh Davis could be one of the latter. Davis' coach at Athens Drive (Raleigh, N.C.), Robert Clemons, told Pittsburgh-focused Panther247.com earlier this week that UA is the "newest team to make a push" for Davis. Clemons said Pitt, Temple, Gonzaga and Maryland also are involved.

Rim shots

• Gordon and fellow UA signee Rondae Hollis-Jefferson began practicing with the USA Select team Thursday in preparation for Saturday's Hoop Summit game in Portland, Ore.

• Washington guard C.J. Wilcox announced he would return to the Huskies instead of declaring for the NBA draft.
