August 1996 Enrolls as a freshman at Arizona as a walk-on player, serves as quasi-personal coach of fellow freshman Mike Bibby.

May 1997 Applies for Los Angeles Clippers' head coaching position.

June 1998 Bibby is chosen No. 2 overall in the NBA draft by the Vancouver Grizzles and offers Pastner a job as his personal trainer. Pastner declines.

December 1998 Graduates from Arizona with a degree in family studies after just 2 1/2 years.

July 1999 Coaches Houston Hoops to Nike National Summer Championship title.

December 1999 Earns a master's degree in teaching and teacher education at Arizona.

April 2000 After his senior season is completed, interviews for a spot on Houston coach Ray McCallum's coaching staff. Stays at UA as an undergraduate assistant coach, a one-year position available to players who have exhausted their eligibility after four years.

April 2002 Named Arizona assistant coach after Jay John leaves to become Oregon State's head coach.

Joins John Calipari's Memphis staff as an assistant coach.

May 2009 Marries the former Kerri Lamas of Sierra Vista.

November 2009 Signs the nation's top-rated fall recruiting class; it would finish rated overall No. 2 behind only Kentucky in 2010 by both Rivals and Scout.

March 2010 Earns two Conference USA coach-of-the-year honors after leading Tigers to 24-10 overall record, with a 13-3 record and second-place finish in Conference USA. The Tigers reach the second round of the NIT.

May 2010 Daughter, Payten Sidney, is born.

August 2010 Tigers are rated No. 12 in the Sporting News preseason basketball annual.
