Ex-Cat Jesse Perry began playing in Lebanon in January, averaging 20.9 points per game.


Mark Lyons isn't expected to hear his name during Thursday's NBA draft, but like many of his Arizona Wildcats predecessors have found, he can still live comfortably in the game.

He just might have to bring his passport.

"I think he's going to be really good in Europe," said Jonathan Givony, president of Draft Express.

Givony said Lyons' scoring-minded point guard game could command up to $100,000 next season in one of Europe's better professional leagues and that he wouldn't rule out the possibility of Lyons developing into an NBA player.

Neither would UA coach Sean Miller, nor Lyons' agent, Chris Emens.

"Mark's got a great future," Emens said. "Does he have obstacles ahead of him? Of course."

While the Wildcats had nine former players open last season on NBA rosters, more of them are now playing outside the country because of obstacles that include size, skill or other issues.

Here's a look at where they have landed:

Hassan Adams • Guard

Years at UA: 2002-06

Last season: Lara, Venezuela (13.5 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 14.3 3FG%)

Previous stops: Philippines, Serbia, Italy, NBA

Worth noting: Drafted 54th overall in the 2006 NBA draft by the New Jersey Nets, Adams played 61 games for the Nets over the next season but was cut after the season. He's had brief NBA stints with Cleveland, Toronto and the L.A. Clippers since then.

Gilbert Arenas • Guard

Years at UA: 1999-2001

Last season: Shanghai, China (20.7 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 40.7 3FG%,)

Previous stops: NBA

Worth noting: Arenas made $140 million in the NBA but, after a downfall on and off the court, told SLAM magazine that he likes China's short season and has no desire to make an NBA comeback. "As long as China teams want me, I'll be here," Arenas said.

Daniel Dillon • Guard

Years at UA: 2004-08

Last season: Oradea, Romania (11.8 ppg, 42.7 3FG%, 2.7 apg)

Previous stops: Australia

Notable: A native of Australia, Dillon now also claims nationality from Trinidad and Tobago and has trimmed off the dreadlocks he was known for at Arizona. He has already signed to return to Oradea next season.

Jamelle Horne

Years at UA: 2007-11

Last season: Humacao, Puerto Rico (15.5 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 37.5 3FG%)

Previous stops: Mexico, Israel, Poland, D-League

Worth noting: The product of San Diego and Tacoma, Wash., claims nationality of Panama. With a Twitter profile that notes he's "traveling the world," Horne is spending this summer playing in the Dominican Republic.

Zane Johnson • Guard

Years at UA: 2007-09 (transferred to Hawaii)

Last season: Caceres, Spain (16g, 4.4 ppg, 20.8 3FG%)

Previous stops: Japan

Worth noting: The Phoenix product hit 38.1 percent of his three-pointer shots earlier in the season with the Fukuoka Rizing of Japan.

Kyryl Natyazhko • Center

Years at UA: 2009-12

Last season: Mariupol, Ukraine (4.2 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 54.3 FG%)

Worth noting: A native of Ukraine, Natyazhko is playing about four hours away from his hometown.

Jesse Perry • Forward

Years at UA: 2010-12

Last season: Beirut, Lebanon (20.9 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 49.4 FG%)

Worth noting: While three felony charges threatened his ability to play overseas, Perry pleaded guilty to a reduced misdemeanor charge of strangulation as part of a plea agreement in September 2012 in Pima County Superior Court. He began playing in Lebanon in January.

J.P. Prince • Guard

Years at UA: 2005-07 (transferred to Tennessee)

Last season: Mersin, Turkey (12.5 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 36.1 3FG%)

Previous stops: Puerto Rico, Venezuela

Worth noting: Prince signed last week with a club in the Dominican Republic after playing briefly earlier this month in Puerto Rico.

Ivan Radenovic • Forward

Years at UA: 2003-2007

Last season: Donetsk, Ukraine (8.6 ppg, 4.3 rpg)

Previous stops: Spain, Greece, Russia

Worth noting: A native of Serbia, Radenovic finished a second straight season with Donetsk, playing alongside former ASU guard Curtis Millage.

Mustafa Shakur • Guard

Years at UA: 2003-07

Last season: Sidigas, Italy (11.5 ppg, 3.4 apg, 23.3 3FG%)

Previous stops: Italy, France, NBA, D-League

Worth noting: Shakur has bounced around on a relatively high level, finishing last season with Erie (Pa.) in the D-League.

Salim Stoudamire • Guard

Last season: Lara, Venezuela (8.8 ppg, 42.9 3FG%, 0.8 apg)

Previous stops: Italy, NBA, D-League

Worth noting: The top second-round pick of the 2005 NBA draft, Stoudamire spent three seasons with the Atlanta Hawks but hasn't found sustained success since then. He played just four games in Venezuela last season.

Mohamed Tangara • Forward

Last season: Libolo, Angola (19 ppg, 12 rpg)

Previous stops: Tunisia, Qatar, Spain, Libya

Worth noting: Tangara made a harrowing escape from the Libyan unrest during the 2010-11 season, taking a taxi, bus, train and plane to get out via Tunisia.

Josiah Turner • Guard

Last season: Summerside, Prince Edward Island (10.7 ppg, 31.6 3FG%, 6.1 apg)

Previous stops: Hungary; Halifax, Nova Scotia

Worth noting: After playing his first professional season, Turner spent two days in Pima County Jail after accepting a plea agreement on a DUI case. He has declared for the NBA Draft.

Jesus Verdejo • Guard
