Arizona football: ASU, UA lobbying for a Fight Hunger bid

The Arizona Wildcats have an offensive line coach.

The program announced this afternoon former Cal offensive coordinator Jim Michalczik has joined the staff as the O-line coach. He replaces Robert Anae, who left two weeks ago to become BYU's offensive coordinator.

Michalczik was the offensive coordinator at Cal the past two seasons and also served as the line coach. He was in his second stint with the Golden Bears; he previously was the team's offensive line coach from 2002-08.

In the middle of his two stops with Cal, he was the offensive line coach for the Oakland Raiders from 2009-10.

Michalczik has strong Pac-12 ties. He spent three seasons at Oregon State before joining Cal in '02. He served in a number of roles for the Beavers, including special teams coordinator, tight ends coach and assistant offensive line coach. He also played at Washington State in the late 1980's.

Michalczik has also worked at Miami (Fla.) and Montana State.

The UA must still replace safeties coach Tony Gibson, who left coach Rich Rodriguez's staff last week for a similar position at West Virginia.
