Arizona Wildcats football: Draft guru lists Foles as third-ranked QB

The new year has brought some good news for Nick Foles.

Mel Kiper, ESPN's draft guru, lists the Arizona Wildcats' quarterback as the third-best signal caller in the upcoming NFL draft. Foles' stock was likely helped by Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones' decision to stay in school; it's unclear where Arizona State quarterback Brock Osweiler, who announced Friday that he was bypassing his senior year of college for a shot at the NFL, fits in Kiper's rankings.

Stanford's Andrew Luck is, naturally, listed as the best quarterback available in the draft. Baylor's Robert Griffin III, the newly minted Heisman Trophy winner, is second.

Kiper calls Foles a "really solid developmental prospect," and lists him as a late-first or early-second-round pick.

"He's a big kid, at 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds, is accurate, moves and throws well to both his right and his left, and has solid mechanics," Kiper wrote on "Questions for Foles start with decision-making, but I think he may have tried to force his throws too often as the team struggled, and the numbers tell some of that story. But you can draft Foles in the late first or early second round and develop him."

Foles is looking to become the first UA quarterback in the modern era to be drafted by an NFL team.
