Arizona Wildcats quarterback Matt Scott and wide receiver Dan Buckner will play in the East-West Shrine Game, held Jan. 19 in St. Petersburg, Fla.

At stake: A shot in the NFL.

Buckner and Scott will be evaluated throughout the week by pro scouts, and judged based on how they practice and perform against some of the nation's top seniors.

Scott completed 301 of 499 passes for 3,620 yards and 27 touchdowns during his fifth and final season at the UA. His final two scores came in last minute of the Dec. 15 New Mexico Bowl; aided by Scott's two touchdown passes and a perfect onside kick by John Bonano, the UA shocked Nevada.Scott, a dual-threat quarterback, has already received an invitation to February's NFL scouting combine.

Buckner caught 61 passes for 773 yards and five touchdowns last fall, stats that rank second on the team. The 6-foot-4-inch, 215-pound Buckner has NFL size but has been bothered by injuries and some inconsistency throughout his career. Buckner played two seasons at the University of Texas before transferring to the UA in 2010. Buckner, who received his degree last month, is currently training in Florida.

The Shrine Game will be shown nationally on the NFL Network. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m., Tucson-time.
