Former UA coach Dick Tomey will walk the sidelines in Tucson again Jan. 11 as part of the Casino Del Sol College All-Star Game.
Tomey and former Arkansas and Ole Miss head coach Houston Nutt were announced as the game's coaches today. Nutt coached the East in last year's game, while Tomey served as an assistant to Pat Hill.
Tomey and Nutt will be assisted by Sahuarita High School coach David Rodriguez, Tucson High coach Justin Argraves, Amphi High School coach Brandon Willard, former Sabino, Santa Rita and Pima College coach Jeff Scurran and current Pima coach Pat Nugent.
Tomey coached at the UA from 1987-2000, and remains the program's all-time wins leader. Tomey is 183-145-7 all-time in stops at Hawaii, Arizona and San Jose State. He retired from collegiate coaching in 2011 after one season as Hawaii's special teams coach.
“It’s always exciting for my wife Nancy and I to return to Tucson,” Tomey said in a news release. “I am excited to coach in the Casino Del Sol College All-Star Game again. … I think the fans will see even better talent on the field than last year.”
This year's game will be streamed live on ESPN3.com and WatchESPN.com and aired locally on 1490-AM and 104.9-FM. Tickets are available by clicking here.
