The Arizona Wildcats football team rang in the (official) first day of the Major League Baseball season with a famous guest. Ken Griffey Jr., a former Mariners, Reds and White Sox star, took in today's on-campus practice with his son, Trey, a member of the Wildcats' 2012 recruiting class

Griffey watched the first part of practice from the aluminum bleachers at the Jimenez Practice Facility. Trey watched position drills from the sidelines. "The Kid" (Griffey Jr., not Trey) visited, coincidentally, on the day his former team, the Mariners, won their season opener again the A's in Japan. Former Tucson High School standout Tom Wilhelmsen worked the final three innings for the M's, and earned the win.
