Defending Division II state champion Canyon del Oro was already in a good spot to repeat this year.

The Dorados welcomed back individual state champion Jaime Waltmire and also saw Eric and Frankie Wu transfer to CDO from Ironwood Ridge. Coach John Farbarik also has a couple of sophomores and juniors that are ready to contribute.

Now, Farbarik has another top-notch golfer to go with Waltmire. Daniel Rowland transferred to Canyon del Oro from the state of Washington and joined the Dorados last week.

His first match was at Oro Valley Country Club, and he fired a two-under 34 to lead all golfers. CDO went on to beat Sabino 155-159 thanks to Rowland's low score.

"He has a definite chance to really help us," Farbarik said.

The Dorados just teed off today at Randolph North against Tucson at 3 p.m.
