Sabino senior Billy Comeaux shot a final-round 71 today at Silverbell to win the Division II state golf tournament by two strokes.

Comeaux finished with a two-day score of 140 after firing an opening-round 69 on Monday. This year marked Comeaux's fourth state championship appearance. He had never finished higher than tied for 22nd place.

Phoenix Thunderbird held off Canyon del Oro for the team state championship. The Dorados entered the tournament as the two-time defending champions, but shot a team score of 578. Thunderbird finished at 571.

Salpointe Catholic's Trent Terry and CDO's Jaime Waltmire were Southern Arizona's next best finishers at 143. CDO's Frankie and Eric Wu each shot a 144 as did Sabino's Joel Berkson.

In the team standings, Salpointe finished fifth, Sabino finished sixth and Nogales took 13th.
