Each Tuesday, the Arizona Interscholastic Association will release the seedings for football. Seedings, of course, take the place of "power rankings" this season and are figured out using a MaxPreps formula.

Tuesday marked the second time the AIA updated the seedings.

In Division I, Sierra Vista Buena (12), Sunnyside (15) and Tucson (20) would all be in the playoffs if they began today. The top 24 teams qualify.

In Division II, Cienega, with one loss, leads the way for local teams at No. 4. However, Ironwood Ridge, currently at No. 5, plays Tempe Marcos de Niza and Peoria Centennial the next two weeks. Those are the top two ranked teams in Division II and will help the Nighthawks' seeding.

Salpointe Catholic (7), Rincon/University (13), Sahuaro (16) and Mountain View (17) are all in the top 20.

Sabino is the top ranked team in the state in Division III and Sahuarita (4) and Nogales (8) are both in good shape to potentially host a home playoff game.

Empire is the highest ranked local team in Division IV at No. 9.
