Krista Duffield came close to winning two individual titles at the Division II state meet but had something else to make up for it.

The Catalina Foothills senior won the 50 free, placed second in the 100 fly and was on two state championship relay teams to help lead the Falcons to the team championship.

Duffield, who also swims for Ford Aquatics, was in a relatively easy pick for our girls swimmer of the year based on what she did at state and her season as a whole. She was also one of the stars of the High School Classic, winning the 50 free and the 100 fly and helping the 200 free relay team to a win.

Rincon/University junior Brianna Leverenz, the younger sister of Olympic medalist Caitlin Leverenz, was another choice but we decided to go with Duffield, who was at the Junior National Championships last week and will be swimming for N.C. State next year.
