Ironwood Ridge suffered its first loss to a Southern Arizona team since 2006 when it dropped a 3-0 match to Catalina Foothills on Tuesday night.

Coach David Thistle's team won 25-22, 25-16 and 25-22.

The Nighthawks were coming off a huge five-set home win over Scottsdale Notre Dame Prep and had moved into the top five of the Division II seedings before the setback to Foothills.

The Falcons entered the matchup with the Nighthawks at No. 13 in the seedings and will surely move up after the win. Thistle's squad has now won five matches in a row and ten out of 11 overall.

Catalina Foothills next plays on Oct. 24 against Rincon/University. Ironwood Ridge plays tomorrow at home against Pusch Ridge Christian.
