Cienega girls basketball coach Paul Reed has accepted a position as an assistant for the Long Beach State University women's basketball team, the college announced today.

Reed, a graduate of Amphitheater High School, spent the last two seasons with the Bobcats and helped them reach the Division II state finals for the first time in program history this past winter.

Reed was named the Star's coach of the year after a stellar 26-2 campaign which moved his career record to 129-63.

Prior to his time at Cienega, Reed spent six seasons coaching Tucson High's girls team and never had a losing season. The Badgers reached 20 wins in all but two seasons as Reed also received  coach of the year honors in 2007 2008 and 2009.
