Local soccer fans can catch more than the state quarterfinals today.

McDonald's restaurants around Southern Arizona are offering anyone wearing any type of soccer jersey a buy one, get one free Egg White Delight McMuffin as part of its "Soccer Jersey Day" this morning.

Michael Osborne, president of Southern Arizona McDonald’s Operator Association, said in a press release that the event is an "opportunity for customers to showcase their passion for soccer and the start the day off with a wholesome breakfast."

That breakfast can serve as an appetizer to the main course this afternoon: Four local schools – Catalina Foothills, Palo Verde, Sahuaro and Tucson High – are all hosting state quarterfinal matches.

The top-seeded girls and boys Foothills squads will play in a double-header beginning at noon while the Palo Verde and Tucson boys and the Sahuaro girls will all host matches at 2 p.m.

There are also four girls teams traveling out of town to play today including Walden Grove, which is coming off its first playoff win earlier this week. Read more about the Red Wolves' squad here.
