Pregame notes

• Former Tucson first baseman Kyle Blanks will have shoulder surgery and miss the rest of the season, the parent-club Padres announced today. Blanks spent parts of the last two seasons in Triple-A; he started this season in San Diego before being put on the disabled list.

"I feel bad for him, just personally," Tucson manager Terry Kennedy said.

Tucson designated hitter Matt Clark could be in line for a longer look with Blanks out.

• Outfielder Blake Tekotte is back in the T-Pads lineups today. He received a night off, his first of the year, on Saturday.

• Salt Lake catcher Hank Conger is out of the lineup today, after making two brutal throwing errors Saturday night. The rest is typical for catchers, who rarely play in day games that follow night games.
