After winning the junior college Player of the Year award at Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College, incoming Arizona Wildcats wing Kadeem Allen matched the effort in an NJCAA all-star game in Las Vegas tonight.

He was named MVP of the contest between juco Division I standouts against juco Division II and III players at the Orleans Arena, with 18 points on 7-for-15 shooting, 10 rebounds, six assists and two steals.

“It was fun,” Allen said via phone tonight. “There wasn’t really any pressure. It was different. I just had to get used to the situation.”

Allen said it was only the second time he has played in a major all-star game, after playing in a Jordan Brand Classic regional game as a high school player in Wilmington, N.C.
