Aaron Gordon's talent is coming through once again during USA Basketball's U19 trials, and his work ethic and confidence can be seen through Mike DeCourcy's insightful story on Gordon from Colorado Springs.
Gordon told DeCourcy he wants to play a small forward or shooting guard in the long run but is willing to play wherever Sean Miller wants him to next season.
"And I'll thrive at it," Gordon said.
There's also some interesting comments from Miller toward the end of the story about being "creative" in getting Gordon, Brandon Ashley and Kaleb Tarczewski to play effectively together on the floor.
So was it a surprise that Gordon made the first cut with USA Basketball's U19 team and Ashley did not?
Maybe not if you consider this tweet from Draft Express' Jonathan Givony:
One guy who has been somewhat disappointing so far is Brandon Ashley. Just kind of floating around. Not showing much toughness or intensity.— Jonathan Givony (@DraftExpress) June 15, 2013
The U19 team will practice through Wednesday morning in Colorado before narrowing down to the final 12-player team that will represent the USA in the U19 World Championships.
