Not only did Friday's D-League draft keep Grant Jerrett's future firmly in the Oklahoma City organization, with its affiliate in Tulsa picking him first, but it also gave new hope to former UA guard Salim Stoudamire.

Stoudamire, who played three seasons with the Atlanta Hawks upon leaving the Wildcats in 2005, also played in the D-League during the 2010-11 season before taking two seasons off. Now he's attempting a comeback at age 31, put his name in the D-League draft pool, and was taken by Fort Wayne.

"If he can do what he used to, he'll be one of the best shooters around,” Mad Ants president Jeff Potter told the News-Sentinel of Fort Wayne. “He played in the D-League a couple years and stepped away from the game the last two years. Now he wants to make another go at it. I played with his brother (Antoine) at Oregon so I know Salim and his work ethic and how good he is.”

Former Wildcat forward Kevin Parrom may also find a new home in the D-League. He left Ukraine after playing one game and was taken by Rio Grande Valley, which had two former Wildcats last season -- Kyle Fogg as a guard and Matt Brase as assistant coach.

Fogg was cut by Denver out of training camp and his D-League rights now belong to Delaware, which took him in the D-League expansion draft. Brase is now a player development associate with the Rockets.

Colorado may have something to prove after it was left out of the AP Top 25.

Washington heads to Portland for its private scrimmage today.

We had a look this morning at what UA will get out of its scrimmage at Saint Mary's, if you missed it.
