Stanley Johnson was named the national high school player of the year today by MaxPreps after leading undefeated Mater Dei to the California State Open Division title.

The day after the championship game has turned into the national day for "way-too-early" predictions of Top 25 projections.

So even though Nick Johnson and Aaron Gordon still have not made their plans official, these picks are out there today:

-- Sporting News puts UA in the No. 1 spot, with Kentucky second.

-- Yahoo Sports has UA No. 1 over Duke.

-- ESPN also has UA No. 1 over Duke.

-- NBC Sports has UA No. 1, ahead of Duke, Wisconsin, Kansas, and Kentucky.

-- USA Today puts UA second behind Duke.

-- CBS Sports' Gary Parrish also has Duke first over No. 2 UA.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Stanley Johnson are just outside Jeff Goodman's list of the Top 25 players expected to play college basketball next season.

Grant Jerrett's callup to Oklahoma City was reminiscent of when the Thunder picked up Mustafa Shakur for the end of the season four years ago. Jerrett hit 36.4 percent of his three-pointers for Tulsa in the D-League.

Utah forward Ahmad Fields is transferring.

John Canzano says Dana Altman's upcoming assistant coach hire could be a critical move.
