Arizona Wildcats on pace for No. 1 overall seed

The Arizona Wildcats not only clinched the Pac-12 regular-season title on Sunday against Stanford but put themselves in position to claim the NCAA tournament's No. 1 overall seed if they keep winning.

Arizona took over the No. 1 spot in the official NCAA RPI, while several top metrics also have the Wildcats rated No. 1 today: The Sagarin ratings, ESPN's BPI and Kenpom.

Meanwhile, ESPN's Joe Lunardi has Arizona No. 1 on his "S-Curve" projection while also putting seven Pac-12 teams into his projected bracket: 1 Arizona, 5 UCLA, 8 ASU, 10 Cal, Stanford and Colorado, and 12 Oregon.

CBS's Jerry Palm also has seven Pac-12s, in slightly different fashion: 1 Arizona, 7 UCLA, 8 ASU, 9 Stanford, 10 Oregon, 11 Colorado and 11 Cal (with first round game).


The Wildcats stayed at No. 3 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, getting five first-place votes. Florida was voted first, followed by Wichita State, UA, Duke and Virginia.
