Arizona has made more progress in its uphill battle for Kaleb Tarczewski, with the New Hampshire center agreeing to make an official visit to Tucson during the weekend of Sept. 24, a week after he visits Kansas.
The news was reported Saturday evening by Scout.com and I was told early this morning that the visit is confirmed.
Tarczewski's planned visit suggests the Wildcats have gained ground on Kansas, which was the perceived early leader for Tarczewski.
Tarczewski's travel-ball coach, John Carroll, said last month that Tarczewski would probably make a decision before his school started on Friday. However, that came and went, with Tarczewski instead scheduling visits to help aid his final decision.
Tarczewski scheduled a visit to Kansas next weekend, one to Arizona the following weekend, and he is now expected to deliver a decision during the last week of September.
The Wildcats will get the last crack at Tarczewski, provided he does not commit to Kansas during or shortly after his visit to Lawrence. Although Tarczewski visited UA unofficially in June, the official (paid) visit will give him a chance to see campus when school is in session. There is also a UA-Oregon football game on the night of Sept. 24.
Tarczewski did not schedule an official visit to North Carolina, another of his finalists.
