Justin Simon has decided to leave Temecula Valley (Calif.) High School for New Hampshire's Brewster Academy, the latest UA recruit to try the competitive prep school route.

“My family and I thought it was a great idea to get away for my senior year to become more independent and be challenged as a basketball player and a young man,” Simon told the Riverside Press-Enterprise via text message. “To develop in practice and game situations at a level I never had before. ... To prepare for Arizona.”

The vast majority of UA's current roster came from traditional powerhouse high school programs or prep schools that have elite basketball programs. Brandon Ashley and Craig Victor finished their careers at Findlay Prep, as will Allonzo Trier. Dusan Ristic finished at Sunrise Christian in Kansas while Kaleb Tarczewski played at St. Mark's School in Massachusetts.

In addition, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (Chester HS), Elliott Pitts (De La Salle HS) and Stanley Johnson (Mater Dei HS) all played for powerhouse programs in traditional leagues.

UA's Jacob Hazzard had a rebound, assist and a steal while the Pac-12 exhibition team held off the Shanghai Sharks in its last of three games in China. Hazzard was 0 for 4 from the field (stats are here).

Tyler Davis told SNY.tv that he might visit Arizona for the Red-Blue Game in October.

USA Basketball's U17 team captured the gold medal today against Australia in the U17 World Championships. The game will be replayed on ESPNU tonight at 7 p.m. Arizona time.

Several Pac-12 schools made the list of finalists for former UA commit Tyler Dorsey, and the Ducks are scheduled to get a visit next month.
