Nick Johnson flashed his new No. 3 jersey for the Houston Rockets today, having chosen the number in part because his uncle, Dennis Johnson, did so for the Celtics in the 1980s.

Oh, and there’s another problem with his old Arizona number.

“James has my 13,” Johnson said of Rockets standout James Harden, smiling.

Johnson was introduced to the Houston media today. Rockets.com had an individual interview with him here, while CSN Houston had his podium interview here, and a story in which Johnson says he will use his slide to the second round as motivation.

Meanwhile, both Johnson and Harden have reportedly moved on from Johnson’s tweet earlier this season that Harden played "NOOOOOOOOOO DEFENSE."

Johnson has been marketing himself as a defensive-minded combo guard as he begins his professional career.

“I’m just going to do whatever it takes for me to earn a role on this team,” he said, according to Rockets.com. “I’m going to work hard … I’m going to play hard on defense and show my athleticism, and I’m going to live in the gym.

“If you look back at my career, that’s what I’m about: I want to win and I’ll do anything to win and whatever my team asks me to do. I’m excited.”
